Mission Bypass Convenor Pradeep Kakodkar brought to Shirodkar’s notice that MoEF had issued an office memorandum restricting mining transportation along the village roads.
“As per the memorandum, a separate mining bypass, leaving a gap of at least 200 mtrs from the village, should be constructed
to prevent accidents, noise and dust pollution,” informed Kakodkar.
Another resident, James Fernandes, told the deputy collector that Mission Bypass Forum had requested his office to take measures to stop road accidents linked to mining traffic.
Adv Joao Fernandes said that mining trucks parked by the roadside had causing traffic jams and hardship to the public. After listening to their grievances, Shirodkar assured to look into the matter.
