The Colva police have achieved a breakthrough in the Rs 8 lakh theft case reported at a Colva resort, with the police apprehending the accused at the Delhi airport.
One John D’Souza, aged 35 years, owner of a resort at Colva Beach, complained that the accused person Digvijay Singh, aged about 22 years, resident of Lucknow- Uttar Pradesh, an employee of the resort has committed theft of cash of Rs 8 lakh and two idols from the Director’s Office.
During the course of investigation, the police found out that the accused has fled away to Delhi and immediately informed the Indira Gandhi Airport Police Station, Delhi regarding registration of FIR against the accused person.
Police station in-charge, PI Tukaram Chawan informed that the FIR was flashed to the Indira Gandhi Airport Police station and requested them to detain the accused. A Colva police team headed by PSI Subhash Gaonkar was later dispatched to Delhi to apprehend the accused person.
The team apprehended the accused Digvijay Singh in Delhi and has brought the accused to the police station on Friday and placed under arrest.
PI Chawan informed that cash of Rs 7.5 lakh and the two idols have been recovered from the possession of the accused.
He said the Colva Police made immediate breakthrough in this case within 12 hours from the time of registration of above offence and recovered the stolen property.
