A 45-year-old woman from Revora suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a bison early on Sunday morning, in yet another incident highlighting the growing human-wildlife conflict in villages near forest areas.
The victim, Cynthia Fernandes, was rushed to the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa after sustaining severe injuries.
According to family members, Fernandes had stepped out of her house with her dog when the bison suddenly charged at her. The animal reportedly attacked her without warning, leaving her badly injured before relatives and local residents rushed to help.
She was given first aid at the scene and later shifted to hospital for treatment. Her condition is reported to be serious.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the increasing number of encounters between people and wild animals in North Goa. Residents have repeatedly expressed concern over wild animals entering residential areas and posing a threat to public safety.
Locals have urged the Forest Department to take steps to prevent wild animals from straying into inhabited areas and ensure the safety of villagers.
