Party fails to reach conclusion on allegations against Borkar
PANAJI
The much awaited meeting of the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) top leadership with its MLA Viresh Borkar, the first in weeks since turmoil hit the outfit leading to the resignation of its president Manoj Parab, turned chaotic but remained inconclusive.
The meeting of the Core Executive Committee (CEC) was to take up issues related to the accusation against Borkar of anti-party activity and holding a secret meeting in Margao to take control of the party organisation.
Party sources said, the meeting led to heated arguments and intense aggression but exact details of what transpired were not available.
Several supporters of the party were gathered outside the party office in Panaji while the CEC met behind closed doors inside.
Licio Roncon a party leader who is also an aide of Borkar said he hoped some way forward will come out and made light of the heat in the meeting saying such party exercises are bound to witness heated exchanges.
“There may have been aggression but it was controlled aggression. It is nothing wrong. It happens in all parties,” Roncon told media persons.
