Bicholim police on Monday arrested Pandurang Narayan Malvankar (45) of New Wada in Vathadev-Sarvan, Bicholim, in connection with a road mishap which claimed the life of a teenage rider at Kulan-Bicholim late on Sunday evening.
According to Bicholim police, a car driven by Malvankar was proceeding from Bicholim towards Sanquelim, while two teenagers from Collem-Dharbandora were travelling on a two-wheeler from Sanquelim towards Bicholim. Both vehicles collided near the Aadhaar Hospital in Sarvan, seriously injuring the two riders.
Both riders were rushed to the Sanquelim Community Health Centre, from where they were referred to the GMC hospital at Bambolim, where one of them was declared dead on arrival. The other teenager is currently undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim and his condition is reported to be critical.
Bicholim police registered an offence under Sections 281, 125(a)(b), 106(1) of BNS 2023 and Sec 184, Sec 4 r/w 180 of the MV Act. Further investigation is in progress under the guidance of Bicholim PI Vijay Rane Sardesai.
