A rent-a-cab was involved in a road accident on NH66 at Betul, leaving a scooter rider seriously injured.

The police stated that the accused, Aagam Jain, a resident of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, was driving a rent-a-cab (a Maruti Baleno) in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life and without a valid driving licence, while proceeding from Betul towards Canaguinim.

When the vehicle reached the petrol pump near ONGC Betul, the driver suddenly turned the car sharply to the right towards the petrol pump without taking proper precautions or using the indicator, and collided with the rear side of an Activa scooter that was proceeding in the same direction.

The scooter rider, Gajanan Kumtekar, a resident of Canaguinim-Quepem, fell on the roadside along with the scooter and sustained bodily injuries.
