A scooter rider from Cunchelim died in a road mishap near the Court Junction in Mapusa early Friday morning.
According to reports, the mishap took place at about 6 am when Mahesh Basuraj Pujari (27) was riding a scooter from Cunchelim to Mapusa.
A newly married couple from Tamil Nadu had come to Goa in a Tata SUV and were ahead of him when the scooter rammed into the SUV from the rear.
A young woman was passing by on a two-wheeler and, on noticing the mishap, slammed the brakes. The two-wheeler skidded and she fell down, but was not injured.
Pujari was rushed to the Mapusa District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Mapusa Police Sub-Inspector Ravina Mavtodkar and Constable Keshav Naik conducted a panchanama into the accident and sent the body for an autopsy to the GMC Hospital in Bambolim. Mapusa police are conducting further investigations.
