A 68-year-old rider from Chimulkarwada-Lamgao in Bicholim was seriously injured after he was knocked down by a car in a hit-and-run mishap at Bicholim.
According to police reports, the incident took place as Yash Ghatwal of Poira in Mayem-Bicholim was driving his car on July 26 at around 12.30 pm from Bicholim to Assonora.
As he reached near Valshi-Bicholim, the car knocked down a scooter which was proceeding in the same direction.
The scooter rider Suresh Naik (68) of Chimulkarwada-Lamgao in Bicholim fell down and sustained grievous head injuries. The car driver, Yash Ghatwal, fled away from the spot without giving medical aid to the victim or informing the police about the accident.
Acting on a complaint, Bicholim police registered a case against Ghatwal under Sections 281, 125, 125B of BNS 2023 and Section 134(a)(b) of M.V. Act. Further investigations are in progress.
