Rider seriously injured in mishap at Sangolda

A motorbike rider from Varkhand-Pernem was seriously injured after he was knocked down by a taxi at Sangolda.

According to Sangolda police, the mishap took place as Pralhad Parab (44), who is employed at a company in the Pilerne Industrial Estate was proceeding towards Tivim on his motorcycle after completing his second shift at 12.30 am on June 29.

Along the way, he was knocked down by an oncoming taxi at Sangolda and sustained grievous injuries. He was shifted to Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim for treatment.

Police mentioned that the taxi driver Ganesh Kale, a native of Raichur, who was driving the car under the influence of alcohol, was arrested on Tuesday. He was later released on bail. Police Constable Pranesh Gawas is investigating the case under the guidance of Police Inspector Milind Bhuimbar.
