The Entrepreneurship Cell of Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering & Information Technology (RIT) recently organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Goa Centre, and the Directorate of Higher Education, Goa.
The initiative aimed to inspire and guide students toward understanding the world of entrepreneurship and its vast opportunities.
The programme commenced with a short video presentation highlighting inspiring success stories and the role of innovation in today’s economy. The key resource persons for the session were S. Durva Vithal, Project Officer, EDII, and Miguel Souza, who elaborated on the essence of entrepreneurship—identifying opportunities, taking calculated risks, and building sustainable ventures that create societal value.
The speakers emphasized that entrepreneurship is not merely about starting a business but about innovation, creativity, leadership, and problem-solving. They highlighted four essential pillars for entrepreneurial success: Education, Experience, Exposure, and Tradition, and discussed the common challenges such as funding, market competition, and risk management.
Students were introduced to the Business Model Canvas, a strategic planning tool that helps visualize business ideas through components like customer segments, value propositions, revenue streams, and key partnerships.
The interactive session concluded with insights into critical entrepreneurial traits, including resilience, decision-making, creativity, and effective communication, which are vital for navigating challenges and achieving success. The programme proved to be an insightful and motivational experience, encouraging students to think innovatively and take the first steps toward building their own ventures.
