A 29-year-old veterinary doctor, Shardesh Sudesh Narvekar from Siolim, died in a road accident on National Highway 66 near Mauli Temple, Ugvem, around 2.10 am on Sunday.
His cousin, 32-year-old Vishal Gorakshnath Mote, who was riding pillion, sustained injuries and is being treated in hospital.
According to Police Inspector Sachin Lokre of Pernem Police Station, Dr Narvekar was riding his Bullet motorcycle (GA-11-0285) towards Torse with his cousin.
On reaching Mauli Temple, he lost control of the bike and crashed into the road divider.
Both were rushed to hospital by Pernem police. Dr Narvekar was declared dead on arrival, while Mote suffered injuries to his leg and hand and remains under treatment.
Sources said Dr Narvekar was married and his wife is pregnant.
