The newly-inducted ministers Digambar Kamat and Ramesh Tawadkar are set to take charge of office on Monday, the day the Chief Minister will also be allocating portfolios to them.

Last week, Kamat and Tawadkar were sworn-in as ministers in the Pramod Sawant-led cabinet.

State BJP President Damodar Naik has already confirmed that the distribution of portfolios will be held on the auspicious day of Lord Damodar, Margao’s presiding deity. “Monday is an auspicious day as per the Hindu muhurat. The chief minister will allocate portfolios to the newly-inducted ministers on Monday,” Naik had said in the presence of Minister Kamat.

When contacted, Tawadkar confirmed that he along with Kamat will take charge of office on Monday.

Highly placed sources confirmed that the Chief Minister is likely to hand over PWD, Art and Culture, Law and Judiciary along with one more crucial portfolio to Kamat. On the other hand, Tawadkar is set to get Tribal Welfare, Sports and Youth Affairs, Environment and Rural and Development Agency.
