MARGAO
Repairing of pothole-filled roads in Salcete and Mormugao, covering as many as 12 constituencies got underway with the PWD exuding confidence of repairing the damaged road in the next couple of days.
PWD officials, however, said that roads in Colva, Margao ring road and Rawanfond which were dug up to lay the underground sewerage line fall under the jurisdiction of the Goa Sewage Development Corporation.
PWD, Executive Engineer, Div (VI), Prasad Panandikar said that repair of roads and filling of potholes is presently underway in all the 12 Assembly constituencies of Salcete and Mormugao. “The PWD has appointed contractors to take up the work of filling potholes across these 12 constituencies”, he said, while saying the work may be complete in the next couple of days if there are no heavy rains.
He, however, said the PWD has no jurisdiction to repair the roads dug up for the sewerage works in Colva, Margao Ring road and Rawanfond, which were taken up the Goa Sewerage Corporation. “The Corporation has appointed their own contractors to repair the damaged roads. Hence, road repair works on these three roads will be taken up by the Corporation”, he added.
