Road Safety Week observed across North and South Goa

Road Safety Week observed across North and South Goa

PANAJI:  North Goa District Collector Ankit Yadav digitally released three posters carrying the message “Don’t Drink and Drive” as part of the 15th State Road Safety Week. Meanwhile, the Office of the Deputy Collector and SDM, Salcete Taluka, in association with the Traffic Cell, Margao, also observed Road Safety Week on Saturday.

According to an official statement, the State Road Safety Week will be observed from September 28 to October 4. The North Goa campaign was launched with the assistance of Goa Medical College and Hospital under the guidance of Dr Rajesh Patil, MS.

The initiative follows a decision taken at the meeting of the North Goa District Road Safety Committee held on September 11.

The campaign is the first joint awareness initiative involving members and partners of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC), aimed at reaching a larger audience.

“The posters are intended to spread the road-safety message among local residents as well as tourists travelling to different parts of Goa, particularly during weekends,” Yadav said.

The initiative seeks to encourage joint activities among DRSC members and partners to make road-safety awareness efforts more effective and reach a wider section of the public.

In Salcete, an awareness session on road safety was organised for students of Kare College of Law, Margao. This was followed by a field activity during which the SDM and Traffic Cell officials interacted with commuters and road users, sensitising them on traffic rules, responsible road behaviour and safe practices while using the roads.
