Heavy pre-monsoon rains have caused damage in the Salcete countryside, with roads affected in Cuncolim and Colva. There have also been reports of uprooted trees blocking roads and damage to compound walls in several villages.

In Cuncolim, a section of the Cuncolim-Assolna road has collapsed, stopping vehicle movement. Leader of Opposition and Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao contacted the disaster management team to fix the road quickly and manage traffic.

An internal road at Per-Seraulim in Seraulim village is flooded and waterlogged, making it impossible to use. Local resident Simon Rodrigues said the road is dangerous for drivers and warned that without proper barriers, motorists might fall into the water. He blamed the problem on damaged sewage chambers and poor work by the authorities.

Reports of waterlogging and flooding of homes have also come from Sao Jose de Areal, Davorlim, and other villages.

A security guard was rescued by the fire brigade after getting trapped in a basement near the Aquem Power House junction. Fire Officer Gill D’Souza said the basement was still flooded on Wednesday evening.
