Several roads were inundated in many villages as rains lashed Pernem on Monday evening, disrupting normal life and threatening paddy crops that were ready for harvest.
In Kasarvarne, the main road was partially inundated, causing difficulties for motorists passing along the route.
In some parts of the taluka, paddy crops were ready for harvest. Farmers had begun preparing for harvesting when sudden rains flooded their fields. They are now worried that their crops could be severely damaged.
Farmers are hopeful that the rains will stop and water levels in their fields will recede soon, enabling them to complete their harvesting activities.
