Rotary club to disburse books

On the occasion of World Literacy day, the Rotary Club of Margao Midtown launched its Literacy Mission which will entail distribution of over 700 books to 100 schools - 50 in North and 50 in South Goa.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Lenny da Costa said the RILM wishes to achieve the literacy goals through its comprehensive programme titled T-E-A-C-H which involves teacher training and their empowerment, launched 30 e-training centres in Goa, adult literacy, child development and happy school.
Rotary district governor, Dr Vinay Pai Raikar said prior to this programme, they have provided e-learning systems to 30 schools in South Goa and clean drinking water systems to another 30 schools in South Goa.
This initiative was sponsored as a part of Pentair's CSR activity. Dr Raikar informed the idea behind disbursing books is to inculcate the habit of reading among children. He also informed about various other activities undertaken by the Rotarians.
Speaking on this occasion, the RILM's brand ambassador, Dr Varun Carvalho, termed music as the best way to reach out to kids.
Others who spoke included Reggie Fernandes, Venkat of Pentair and Sandeep from Bicholim which is executing this project.
