Speaking to media persons, Samaj spokesperson Santosh Mhambrekar said the EVMs used during the last assembly elections were rigged and that they were supporting only
one party.
“The EVMs are a big scam where no matter whom one votes for; they will be registered only to one party. In this case, it is the BJP,” he said.
Voicing his opinion, Samaj co-ordinator Dipesh Naik said the elections should be held using both processes, electronically as well as through ballot paper. The method that should be adopted, he said, was to allow the voter to punch in the candidate of choice. Based on this choice, a paper receipt should be printed with the candidate voted for printed on the paper. This paper should then be put in a separate ballot box. This way, there is a two-way tally with the number of votes cast and thus reducing the problem of rigging and will also remove a flaw, if any.
