Rottweiler attacks man in Candolim, dog owner booked

Calangute police have booked a dog owner after his Rottweiler attacked and bit a 60-year-old elderly citizen at Anawada in Candolim on Thursday.

According to reports, the incident took place on Thursday at about 9:45 am, when Marcus Machado was returning from the Candolim market. As he was walking on the footpath near the house of Gurudatt Lawande, the Rottweiler belonging to Lawande suddenly pounced on Machado and bit him on his leg.

The injured person was later admitted to the Candolim Primary Health Centre and was sent home after treatment.

Later on Thursday night, Machado filed a police complaint and the Calangute police later registered a case against the dog's owner. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Dinesh Kanolkar under the guidance of Police Inspector Paresh Naik.
