TN tourists held for assaulting tourist police at Colva beach

The Colva police arrested five domestic tourists, all natives of Tamil Nadu after they assault and manhandled the tourist police personnel and stopped them from discharging their duties.

The accused persons have since been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

The police claimed that the accused persons, all tourists were trying to go into the sea for swimming. They were, however stopped by the life guards manning the beach due to the bad weather conditions.

When the tourist police personnel on duty lawfully intervened to diffuse the situation, the accused person Chinna Thambi Muthukrishnan, native of Tamil Nadu assaulted and manhandled one of the personnel by grabbing his uniform collar and scratching his neck with nails and pushed him by using criminal force.

He was joined by other accused persons Vishnu Prabhu, Thirupathi Venkatesh, Mahendran, Shamkumar Ponnusamy and Saravanan, all natives of Tamil Nadu with their common objective, formed an unlawful assembly, wrongfully restrained the police staff and pushed them by using their criminal force thereby deterred the complainant and other Tourist police staff from discharging their lawful duty.
