Rs 1 crore Valpoi municipal ground incomplete: Cong

VALPOI
Accusing the Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) of leaving the Rs 1 crore municipal ground incomplete, the Valpoi Block Congress has threatened to agitate if authorities fail to resume work on the ground.

Speaking to reporters, Valpoi Block Congress President Dasharath Mandrekar said work on the municipal ground had been left incomplete, making it difficult for children to play on the ground.

“The VMC has spent close to Rs 1 crore on the municipal ground from the Golden Jubilee Funds. The work has been incomplete and to complete the project, the VMC had issued a new tender, but the contractor has not started work as yet,” said Mandrekar.

“As a result, children have to face many problems on the ground. To matters worse, several iron rods are protruding out and this poses a threat to people visiting the ground. The VMC needs to pay serious attention to this issue.”

“On the one hand, the government wants to promote sports and sportspersons and government funds are being used to develop sports. However, the VMC has misused the Golden Jubilee Funds,” said Mandrekar.

Mandrekar said the Congress had received several complaints from players and people who had also demanded the immediate completion of work on the ground.

“If the pending work on the ground is not completed soon, we will launch an agitation,” threatened Mandrekar.
