Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday stated that the government is committed to developing modern infrastructure and ensuring equal growth opportunities in rural areas just as in urban centers.

“The government is making every effort to provide all types of emergency services, promptly and efficiently,” said Sawant

He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the modern Valpoi fire station constructed by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (GSIDC), in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Director of Fire & Emergency Services Nitin Raiker, GSIDC Managing Director Rohit Kadam, Valpoi Municipal Chairperson Prasanna Gawas, councillors, ZP members Nilesh Parwar, Namdev Chari, and Premnath Dalvi, Mauxi Sarpanch Priti Gavkar and others.

The project, built at a cost of Rs 10.83 crore, is expected to significantly strengthen emergency services in the Sattari taluka.

Speaking further, the chief minister took a friendly swipe at Vishwajit Rane, but was quick to praise him and Poriem MLA Deviya Rane for promoting development in Sattari.

“Valpoi’s modern fire station inauguration was delayed by a year though the work was largely complete. Initially some finishing works were pending. Later, your Baba (Vishwajit Rane) did not get the time and had been postponing the event,” he told the audience.

“Vishwajit and Deviya Rane have been instrumental in development works across Sattari taluka and are available to the people 24x7,” said Sawant.

He dismissed rumours of any rift with Vishwajit Rane and claimed that some people from outside Sattari taluka have been creating confusion. “Amcho Mog Clear Asa,” claimed Sawant.

Stating that the modern Valpoi fire station has various facilities, including hostel and recreation spaces, the chief minister said the fitness of firefighters is top priority, else it could lead to obesity and BP issues.

He also assured that Sattari taluka will not remain behind in terms of development and announced the renovation of the Valpoi Police Training Centre.

Referring to the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, he said that biodiversity has been enriched due to conservation efforts, and added that the forest department is actively creating necessary infrastructure within forest areas to minimise incidents of wild animals entering human settlements.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane expressed satisfaction over the completion of the moderm Valpoi fire station, stating that the lack of proper facilities earlier had caused several difficulties.

He also assured efforts to provide a separate building for the Mamlatdar and Sub-Divisional Officer offices. Additionally, he announced that the foundation stone for the Savarde bridge project will be laid within this month.
