Karnataka PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi has stated that Rs 58 crore funds have been sanctioned for the development of Chorla road connecting Belagavi and Goa. He also stated that the work will be tendered by April 2024.
Addressing media persons in Belagavi, Jarkiholi said a meeting regarding ongoing works of national highways related to Karnataka was held at Panaji on December 24 with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
“About 15 national highway works worth Rs 17,000 crore are delayed in the state. Works worth only Rs 2,000 crore were done and others remained incomplete. The acquisition of forest land, clearance from mines and geology, shifting of electricity poles and other reasons are turning hurdles for these works. However, the officials have agreed to cooperate and we expect to complete the pending works immediately,” Jarkiholi told reporters.
“I also brought the pending work on the Belagavi-Goa road via Chorla to the notice of the Union Minister. The Karnataka government has sanctioned Rs 58 crore for the development of Chorla road,” he informed.
“We have taken three months to give all clearances for the works. Soon, a meeting will be held with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and we will facilitate the completion of the delayed national highway projects in the state. Already, a round of meetings with the deputy commissioners, forest officials, and other concerned officials have been made and they have responded positively,” he said.
