Goa has received Rs 100cr incentive from the Union Mines Ministry for bringing in various reforms pertaining to mining of minor minerals in the State.
The coastal state is among the six States who has received the incentives for reforms in the minor mineral sector.
Some of the major reforms in mining of minor minerals include amendment to the Goa Minor Mineral Concession Rules, that increased the life of lease of mine to 30 years with another 30 years renewal. It also significantly raised the fine for illegal extraction and transportation from Rs 5,000 to Rs five lakh along with imprisonment for two years.

On Monday, the Ministry sanctioned Rs 400cr to Goa towards major minerals which included Rs 300 cr incentive for operationalisation of two iron ore mineral blocks in the current financial year.
