S Comunidades' staffers to get 2 months salary

MARGAO
The government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 16.05 lakh as salary grant for payment of salaries of the 27 beleaguered employees attached to the office of the Administrator of Comunidades, South for the two months of July and August 2016.
While the government has released the grant as per the High Court directions after much delay, the beleaguered employees wondered when they would receive their salary payments for 12 months up to August 2017. "While we welcome the government's order sanctioning the salary grant as per the High Court order, we are all worried when the government would clear our salary dues pertaining to the last 12 months," remarked an employee.
The employees pointed out that they will have no option than to knock the doors of the High Court again with the government dragging its feet in the payment of their salaries.
During his visit to the South Collectorate earlier this month, Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte had said that the local Comunidade components will have to find a way out to meet the salary requirements of the employees. On the other hand, the components have maintained that many Comunidade employees have been employed by allegedly flouting the rules, while ruling out the possibility of the components taking the responsibility for the payment of the salaries.
