Assures bereaved family of full support
South Goa Collector Egna Cleetus consoles the ailing mother of Rajendra and Mohandas Gaonkar, the two brothers who died of electrocution in Quepem.

South Goa Collector, Egna Cleetus, IAS, along with the South Goa Disaster Management team, on Wednesday visited the residence of late Rajendra Kashinath Gaonkar and Mohandas Kashinath Gaonkar, the two brothers who died of electrocution at Quepem on August 27.
The Collector met the grieving family, including the brothers’ ailing mother, and conveyed condolences on behalf of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. She assured them of all necessary support from the state administration and promised a proper investigation into the incident.
Zilla Panchayat Member Suresh Kepekar, SDPO Quepem Ashish Shirodkar, PI Quepem Arjun Sangodkar, Mamlatdar Quepem Nathan Afonso and Dr Bale were also present during the visit.
Police said the brothers died after coming in contact with live wires laid in a plantation to deter wild animals. The landlady, Jaya Gaonkar, has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. A Judicial Magistrate in Quepem has remanded her to 13 days of judicial custody.
