The Mapusa Deanery catechetical unit will organise 'Saints.com' a deanery-level programme on saints at St Jerome Church, Mapusa, on November 10.

The programme will be inaugurated by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao at 9 am.

Saints.com is a day-long programme from 9 am to 5 pm and children from various parishes of Mapusa deanery will spend time together participating in competitions based on the extraordinary lives of Catholic saints.

“We expect families from various parishes of the deanery as well as neighbouring parishes to witness this event and enjoy this festival. We realise that we need to make a conscious effort to place the lives of saints before our children,” said Fr Luis Xavier Gomes, assistant Parish Priest, Mapusa.

Each parish has chosen a saint whose life they will depict through various competitions such as essay writing, poetry recitation, one act play, video presentation, prayer dance, group singing, monologue, painting/drawing and collage making. Each parish will also be provided space for an exhibition stall to display exhibits related to their saint.

The nine parishes of Mapusa Deanery participating in this event and the saints they have chosen are St Francis Xavier, Duler (St Francis Xavier), St Francis of Assisi, Colvale (St Francis of Assisi), Our Lady of Flight, Cunchelim (St Anthony), St Cajetan, Bastora (St Cajetan), Holy Family, Porvorim (St Joseph Vaz), St Diogo Guirim (St Thomas the Apostle), Our Lady of Victory, Revora (St Padre Pio), Our Lady of Succour, Socorro (St Sebastian) and St Jerome, Mapusa (St Alphonsa).

A quiz will be conducted in the evening by Fr Romeu Godinho (director of Diocesan Catechetical Center) who will also be the chief guest at the closing programme at 4 pm.
