Expressing concern over complaints he has received, Paliencar has directed the WRD department to officially declare the area as a no-alcohol zone. Taking to social media, the minister said, “I am getting complaints that certain miscreants are breaking alcohol bottles in the area.”
Urging citizens to cooperate, the minister said the WRD would declare Salaulim dam and the jurisdiction of the dam as ‘No Alcohol Zone.’
Salaulim dam meets water demand of the urban areas of Margao, Vasco, Quepem and Sanguem. Salaulim also makes up for water scarcity at the Opa water works.
The Duckbill spillway and the botanical garden are tourist attractions at the dam site. The spillway is one of its kind in the country.
