Threatening of doctor: IMA seeks CM’s help

The president of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Bicholim taluka Dr Shekhar Salkar has requested Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to initiate stern action against the accused involved in threatening a doctor on duty at Community Health Centre (CHC) Sakhali.

In a memorandum submitted to the chief minister, Dr Salkar stated that Dr Atul Pai Bir was threatened of dire consequences by an unidentified person on June 17 and 18 by indirectly passing a message through an attendant. The attendant immediately informed the matter to staff nurse on duty, who informed Dr Bir. Dr Salkar has requested the chief minister to look into matter and take stern action against the culprit immediately. He has also requested the police to book culprits under Goa Medicare Act of 2013.   
Dr Salkar has also requested the chief minister to form a redressal committee under Section 7(1) of the said act.   
Meanwhile, Dr Bir has lodged an FIR against the unknown person at Bicholim Police station. Acting on the complaint, the police booked the offender under IPC and Section 4 of Goa Medicare Service Personnel and Medicare Service Institutions (prevention of Violence and damage or loss to property) Act 2013.

No takers for official language at oath taking ceremony in Chicalim

There were no takers for Konkani, the State’s official language, when newly elected panchas from all nine panchayats in Mormugao taluka took their oath of office at the Chicalim Panchayat Ghar.
