Salcete politicians made their presence felt at the CZMP public hearing venue on Thursday to raise express their concern over the Coastal Zone Management plan.

While NCP lone MLA Churchill Alemao was present inside the venue and made his submission, leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, former Minister Alexio Sequeira, district Congress president Joe Dias, vice-president Deepak Kharangate were spotted registering their names for the hearing.

Goa Forward vice-president Durgadas Kamat and Citizens for Democracy convenor Elvis Gomes, besides Aam Admi Party leader, Capt Venzy Viegas were seen at the venue.

In his submission, Churchill demanded to know why as the cadastral plan not prepared after the CRZ notification of 1991

He sought to know why did the ruling government in 1991 never visited any house on the coastal belt or conducted any inspection to see how many houses were existing during that particular time.

The Benaulim MLA said the CZMP map, which was prepared in 2019 never showed any port limits, saying the map with the port limits was shown in 2020 without taking any stakeholder into consideration.
