MARGAO
Saying that the new map proposed by Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has shown new legends such as 100 metre line, hazard line, etc on the new CZMP, the village panhayat of Varca has called for a rescheduling of the March 7 public hearing at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and hold the hearing at the panchayat level.
In a letter addressed to the Environment Ministry, Sarpanch Charlton Lourenco pointed out that the sand dunes, mangroves, storm water drains, etc have been wrongly mapped in the new CZMP.
He said the CZMP proposed by the village panchayat had incorporated in detail the existing infrastructure and the proposed infrastructure for future development, but expressed his shock that none of the suggestions have found mention in the new draft plan proposed by GCZMA.
“We had provided details such as updated existing sand dunes and mangroves, existing storm water drains/ nallah, existing structure, existing roads and sluice gates, foot bridges, existing toilets and changing rooms, proposed fishing wards and proposed beach parking and beach beautification,” Charlton said, adding that these inputs have not been incorporated in the plan.
