SANGUEM
Sanguem Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit, incharge of the Sanguem Flying Squad, along with teams from the mines department and police on Monday raided an illegal sand extraction site in Uguem Village and seized 11 cubic metres of sand which was illegally stacked in a private property.
Pandit informed that the illegally extracted sand would be dumped back into river on Tuesday with the help of JCB machine, as ordered by the high court.
Except for the sand stacked in the private property, the flying squad did not find any other incriminating material at the site.
The sand was allegedly extracted from the local river adjacent to the private property using traditional methods, informed sources.
Mamlatdar Pandit directed the police to register an offence against those involved in the matter.
