Cruz, who was the chairperson for 18 months, along with Mapari resigned from their respective posts.
Cruz said he resigned due to personal reasons but added that Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar had asked him to continue as Sanguem chairperson. “I felt it is better to give opportunity to others and resign without facing any clashes between councillors for the post of chairperson,” he said.
He further said he will continue to work for the betterment of his ward and will be available for people for any work from his ward.
