According to the residents near the water tank at New Vaddem, Basuraj Shastri alias Bassu had gone to the laundry to
collect his clothes and when the laundry owner, Prameshwar Pillai demanded the money, Bassu allegedly assaulted Pillai with a sharp weapon, due to which Pillai got a cut on his face.
The residents added that Pillai’s wife rushed to her husband for help, but Bassu also assaulted Pillai’s wife and their child. As the residents started gathering at the site, Pillai also assaulted two more residents and fled from the scene.
When contacted, Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo said Parmeshwar Pillai filed a complaint against Basuraj Shastri alias Bassu for assaulting him and two others with a razor.
PI Raposo said acting on the complaint, the accused was immediately apprehended and arrested under Section 324 of IPC and police is investigating the case. TGN
