Sanguem drains cleaned after 10 years

After almost a decade, the Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC) has begun cleaning drains in the town market area.

CURCHOREM:
SMC workers were seen using a night soil tanker to clear the clogged drains from Sanguem market area, as part of the pre-monsoon works.
“The drains in the market area had not been cleaned for almost a decade and the clogged drains were responsible for the foul smell in the area,” said SMC Chairperson Suryadatta Naik.
“Since past seven days, SMC workers have been deployed for pre-monsoon works. What is significant this year is that concrete slabs over the municipal drains were opened and cleaned with the aid of nigh soil tankers, something not done in a decade.”
He informed that pre-monsoons works have also been initiated in all 11 wards of the municipality.TGN
