With Parrikar due to visit Sanguem town on the occasion of Sanguem Shigmotsav on Saturday, local leaders are hopeful that development will be promoted in Sanguem.
Sanguem has largely been underdeveloped since Goa’s liberation, with much of its area comprising forests and agriculture land. Former BJP MLA Subhash Phaldessai had initiated some development projects in various villages of Sanguem taluka, but many of them have remained incomplete and with an independent MLA coming to power, it is left to be seen if these projects would get completed.
Some of the many projects in Sanguem town alone that are either incomplete or in need of maintenance include the Sanguem Municipal Council building complex, the market complex, Sanguem PHC, Dando bridge and Forest Guest house. In his manifesto, Gaonkar had included the upgradation of Sanguem PHC and the construction of a new Dando bridge in Sanguem.
Gaonkar recently stated that a major decision about Sanguem PHC would be taken during the March 25 meeting.
