SANGUEM
The Judicial Magistrate First Class, Sanguem convicted one Gokuldas Babusso Naik, a resident of Souzamoll Collem for illegal possession of 12-bore single barrel breech loading gun sans legal documents.
The accused had fired a cartridge from the gun to kill a mouse deer when he had gone for hunting on 14th June 2013 in the forest area of Bhagwan Wildlife Sanctuary.
The complaint to this effect was lodged by RFO Pranay A Naik at Collem Police Station.
Acting on the complaint, Collem Police led by PSI Sachin Lokre investigated into the matter and had seized the gun and had placed the accused Gokuldas under arrest under Section 3, 5 read with Section 25 and 27 of Arms Act.
The prosecution led by APP Sanford Fernandes examined a total number of twelve witnesses including IO Sachin Lokre.
After going through the deposition of the witnesses and the arguments advanced by APP Fernandes and Advocate appearing for the accused, JMFC Sanguem convicted the accused for offences punishable under Section 3, 5 read with 25 and 27 of Arms Act.
