Sanguem MLA says will decide on TMC after consulting supporters

PANAJI

Sanguem’s Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar said he has an offer to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC), but added that he would take a decision after consulting supporters from his constituency.

The independent MLA had earlier supported the ruling BJP, but later distanced himself from the State government after Pramod Sawant became the chief minister.

"TMC leaders have approached me to join their party. I have not taken a decision as of now and I will discuss this with my workers first,” said Gaonkar.

Incidentally, Gaonkar is not keen to join the Congress after claiming that their performance at the local level had not been up to the mark.

Meanwhile, many leaders are expected to join the new parties in the state on auspicious days over the next few days.

So far, former chief minister Luizinho Faleiro, former MLA Lavoo Mamledar, Yatish Nayak, Vijay Pai have joined the TMC.
