The newly elected panchayat body of Santa Cruz has resolved to construct a new panchayat ghar in its property near the playground.
The resolution to this effect was unanimously approved as the newly elected panchayat body met for the first time at the fortnightly meeting on Wednesday.
Speaking to The Goan after the meeting, Deputy Sarpanch Domnic Pereira informed that the panchayat is in possession of a property admeasuring over 3000 square metres since the past 20 years.
“The property is located near the playground at Bondir. However, the land was not put to use and we decided to build a new panchayat ghar there,” said Pereira, while adding that the panchayat has already received Rs 50 lakh under the State government’s Atmanirbhar scheme, which will be utilised for the project.
