Amidst joyous shouts of “Viva Sao Joao!”, the vibrant community of Ranoi-Aldona came together to celebrate the beloved Sao Joao festival, faithfully upholding the rich traditions passed down by their ancestors.
The festivities commenced with prayers at the Mae de Deus Chapel, Ranoi, followed by the singing of traditional Mandos, Dulpods, and folk songs, filling the air with music and merriment.
In a spirited display of unity and joy, both the young and the elderly took part in the customary jumping into the community well in front of the chapel.
Dressed in colourful Kopels, revellers enthusiastically joined in the community fellowship, engaging in traditional games and sharing a delightful spread of seasonal fruits and authentic Goan sweets.
It was a day filled with song, laughter, and shared heritage, a beautiful reminder of the enduring spirit of San Joao in the heart of Ranoi.
