Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Monday launched development works worth Rs 18 lakh to improve basic infrastructure outside the Vasco court premises.
The event was held in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Girish Borker, Ward Councillor Shami Salkar, advocate Dileshwar Naik, and other dignitaries.
Speaking to the media after the launch, Salkar said the project was taken up under the 15th Finance Commission funds and catered to a long-pending demand of the local advocate community.
“The area outside the court faced several issues, including damaged pavers, lack of parking space, and poor drainage. The Advocates’ Association had approached me with these concerns, and the ward councillors had also highlighted the need for urgent attention. We are executing these works worth Rs 18 lakh,” Salkar said.
He added that the works will include repairs to drainage gutters, installation of cover slabs, and replacement of footpath pavers.
“This initiative will not only resolve issues related to waterlogging and parking but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the city. We want to ensure smooth water flow and proper space for advocates and litigants to park,” he said.
Salkar further informed that development works worth Rs 25 lakh are being carried out in every ward across the municipality as part of a larger initiative to uplift civic infrastructure.
