Making a strong push for the Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill, 2021, activists in Sattari taluka on Sunday said that for the first time since the liberation of Goa, most of the houses would get land ownership rights through the bill.
At a meeting held at Kanekar hall in Valpoi in the presence of a large number of residents, the activists said that some people are trying to confuse the people by opposing the bill. This bill, which is beneficial for Sattari taluka, will solve many issues in the future.
They further said that if the government tries to repeal the bill, the people of Sattari taluka will take to the streets in protest.
Speaking on the occasion, social activist Ranjit Rane said that the land in Sattari taluka does not belong to the government but to our ancestors. “Due to this, the heirs of this land are Bhumiputras of Sattari taluka. The first land issue in Sattari taluka was raised by freedom fighter Dipaji Rane.”
He said that the bill passed by the government would benefit the people of Sattari taluka and would get the ownership through this bill.
Social worker Adv Ganpat Gavkar slammed Pratapsingh Rane and his son, the health minister for ignoring the issue of land ownership in Sattari taluka. He said following the passage of the Bill, opposition from all quarters, the government has now corrected the bill. Ganpat said that it was in the interest of the people of Sattari taluka and demanded that the government should not repeal the bill.
Another activist and former Sarpanch Datta Gavas said that 90 per cent of the houses in Sattari taluka are unauthorised and ownership of these houses would be acquired through this bill.
Vithoba Gavas, Demu Gavkar, Mohan Gavkar, Ganesh Gavkar, Vithoba Sawant, Ram Malekar too shared similar views.
On the occasion, a resolution congratulating the government was passed. It was also decided to stand firmly behind Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
The meeting was compared by Suresh Zarekar and Mahadev Bagi proposed the vote of thanks.
