Sattari truck driver dies in Redighat accident

A 36-year-old man from Sonal-Sattari, Vishal Gaonkar, died in a road accident at Redighat late on Sunday night.

According to reports, Gaonkar was travelling from Honda towards Vaifal when his vehicle met with an accident at Redighat.

He sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the Valpoi Community Health Centre, where he was declared dead.

Relatives, friends and residents of Sonal rushed to the hospital after learning about the accident. His body was later sent to GMC hospital for an autopsy and handed over to the family. His last rites were performed on Monday in the presence of relatives, friends and villagers.

Locals described Gaonkar as a skilled and sincere truck driver who was actively involved in Sonal’s social life and village development initiatives.

The accident has renewed concerns over road safety at Redighat. Residents urged motorists to exercise caution at night, control their speed and take precautions on dangerous and accident-prone stretches.
