VALPOI
The dilapidated Sattari Zonal Agricultural Office (ZAO) building at Valpoi is set to be demolished and a new building will be constructed at the site at an estimated cost of Rs 2.4 crore.
The ZAO building has been in a dilapidated condition for several years, posing a serious risk to staff and visitors to the office, which is an important location for the hundreds of farmers involved in different kinds of agriculture all over the taluka.
There had been strong concerns about the precarious condition of the building and growing demands for a new ZAO building.
The ZAO was then shifted to an adjacent old building about one year-and-half years ago, but the premises were insufficient for the staff and visitors.
“A proposal for a new ZAO building at Valpoi was recently approved by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Babu Kavlekar and the agriculture department, following efforts by the health minister and former chief minister Pratapsing Rane,” said ZAO official Vishwanath Gawas.
“A new building will now be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.4 crore and a tender has been issued in this connection. The new building will be constructed on completion of the tender approval process,” he added.
