Assuring that mining activity would resume in the State after the central and state BJP governments make efforts to resolve the issue legally, BJP’s South Goa Lok Sabha candidate Narendra Sawaikar on Sunday also promised steps to reduce pollution at the Mormugao port.

Sawaikar was addressing a large gathering at a BJP public meeting organised in Sada.

Others present at the meeting included DyCM Babu Ajgaonkar, Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and star campaigner and film star Isha Koppikar.

“There are 4,000 people directly and indirectly dependent on MPT and though mining was banned after Supreme Court direction, we are working a way out legally and both the BJP governments at the centre and state will resume mining activities and this is my assurance to the people here.”

“MPT will never ever cease to exist and we will ensure that steps are taken to reduce any pollution, if at all, caused by handling of any cargo so that MPT continues to stay and people’s livelihood is intact,” said Sawaikar

He accused the opposition of having no issues, no vision and no definite leader.

“We are clear that our PM will be Narendra Modi while the opposition is not even clear about their PM and are only dependent on alliances and Mahagatabandhan. The people of the country have seen so many developments in the country that they want the Modi-led government again,” said Sawaikar.

Urban Development Minister Milind Naik said Sawaikar would not only win, but would get a huge lead in Mormugao taluka.

“The opposition has failed at every attempt to work against the BJP as people have stood strong

with us because we have proved ourselves by doing development.”

“It is sad that the person responsible for BJP in Goa, former CM late Manohar Parrikar is not with us and we miss him a lot. I have not seen a person like him ever who worked for the people till his final breath.”

“BJP stands for development and people have to choose the right person and right party for good governance and only Modi can deliver this good governance to India,” said Naik.

PANAJI: Former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar's son Utpal Parrikar on Monday slammed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar over his remark on Manohar Parrikar viz-a-viz the Rafale deal. Utpal in his letter written to Pawar, who is also a former defense minister, has said that this is yet another unfortunate attempt to invoke my father's name to push blatant falsehoods. Pawar while addressing reporters in Maharashtra's Kolhapur last weekend had said that…
