Sawant: Over 70% of dept websites are non-functional

PANAJI

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday rapped the knuckles of government officials, especially those in charge of ensuring that the government's websites are functional round the clock.

Speaking at the Secretariat at the ceremony to mark the Vigilance Awareness Week, CM Sawant said, "70 to 80 per cent of the government department websites are not working or are not updated. As a result, citizens are forced to visit government offices to get their work done. Department secretaries should take note and look into such issues. This is not the duty of the CM."

He also expressed displeasure at the lackadaisical attitude of several government employees towards their work schedule during the ongoing pandemic.

"Many government employees not reporting to work go unquestioned by the Heads of the Departments. I receive such details from other employees," said the CM chastising such employees.

CM further exhorted the HoDs to adopt measures to plug leakages and generate revenue in their respective departments. He said they should initiate efforts to ensure cent percent implementation of the schemes to accomplish the goal of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa Campaign.

He informed that as a part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Swayampurna Goa initiative, government officers as “Swayampurna Mitra” will visit each and every village panchayat. This would be done in order to ensure that every village becomes self-reliant by harnessing the available resources within the area and for which training will be imparted to 210 officers.

Similarly, awards will be given to panchayats, officers and the departments for achieving cent percent implementation of schemes.

In attendance were government secretaries, HoDs and vigilance officers of government departments after inaugurating the Vigilance awareness week organized by Directorate of Vigilance at Secretariat Porvorim today.
