Filipe Neri on TCP
board raises eyebrows

How come Congress MLA Filipe Neribab Rodrigues made it to the Town and Country Planning Board headed by Goa Forward Chief and TCP Minister, Vijaibab Sardesai, was a question doing the rounds in Xasttidom during the weekend. Vijaibab has told his close aides that he is not at all responsible behind getting Filipe Neribab on the TCP Board. In fact, the TCP Minister has maintained that Filipe Neribab's name was recommended by the Congress Legislature Party and neither he nor the Taleigao strongman, Babush Monserrate, who had embraced the Goa Forward on the eve of the Panjim bye-poll, are responsible behind the decision,. The question that remains unanswered is whether it was a just a coincidence that the Congress suggested Filipe Neribab's name on the TCP Board or is there something more than meets the eye. Wait and watch even as Vijaibab's right hand man, Surajbab Lotlikar, whose name did the rounds in political circles as the prospective candidate for the Rajya Sabha poll has found a place on the TCP Board.
On a private trip
Did Manoharbhai made a private visit to Salcete's coastal belt on Friday, triggered speculations amongst many a Xasttikar over the exact motive behind the Chief Minister's presence in the taluka. It was Friday evening and people along the belt were engrossed in celebrating the feast of Our Lady of Vailankani when the vehicle carrying Manoharbhai was reportedly spotted along the coastal belt. Many ruled out the question of the Chief Minister visiting the residence of the Varca strongman with Churchillbab along with family is holed up in Vailankani. Others were trying to figure out whether Manoharbhai had come to see his old political friends from Benaulim constituency. It was only later that realization dawned that Manoharbhai must have been on a private visit to a resort. Politicos are indeed under the watchful eyes of the citizens.
No stopping Avertano
Whom was former Fisheries Minister Avertanbab Furtado referring to when he accused certain persons for trying to sabotage the development projects he had initiated in Navelim during his tenure? Well, without taking names, Avertanbab took the platform of the dental camp organised by Navelkarancho Ekvott to tell Navelkars how the mega indoor stadium project opposite the Francis Luis Gomes district library was sought to be derailed by certain people. The former Xastti's lone minister has vowed to complete not only the indoor stadium project well on time before the National games scheduled next year, but all other projects, including the football grounds, he had taken up during his five-year old tenure as the Navelim MLA. That Avertanbab prefers to monitor works on the ongoing projects shows his anxiety and determination to ensure that the projects take shape.
Nepali's ration card shocker
It was a week when Curtorim MLA Reginaldbab was completely taken aback when an employee of a city restaurant approached him for a ration card. Reginaldbab had just addressed the scribes when the employee informed the MLA that he is staying at Kargil in Curtorim, the MLA's home constituency. Before the MLA could ask any question, the waiter said he had come across Reginaldbab's banners at Kargil during the Assembly election. Reginaldbab sought to wriggle out of the situation by explaining that he can obtain a ration card on condition that his card in his native state is cancelled. And, before he could ask more questions, the waiter pointed out that he hails from Nepal, completely flooring the MLA. How's that.
Putting ‘Fatorda house' in order
Vijaibab Sardesai's controlled Margao Municipal Council headed by Babitabai Prabhudesai has finally cleared decks for the acquisition of the crumbling Salcete de Camara building at old market - the seat of municipal administration during the Portuguese era. And, with the TCP Minister literally bulldozing his way with a proposal to carve out a separate municipal body for Fatorda, questions indeed did the rounds in the corridors of the Margao municipal building earlier this week whether Vijaibab would rush with the renovation and restoration of the crumbling building right on time to house his proposed Fatorda Municipal Council. Critics may say the Camara de Salcete building has no place around for parking of municipal vehicles and citizens visiting the civic body. Wait and watch as Manoharbhai has handed over the archives and archaeology portfolio to the Fatorda MLA.
