to politics?
Many may say that its years now since former Velim MLA Farrelbai Furtado had taken a sanyas from politics. Even Farrelbai may not dispute the fact that she hasn't been active in politics for a long time now, though she might have extended her help and assistance to politicians during election time. So what has prompted Farrelbai to embrace Vijaibab-led Goa Forward party, was a question doing the rounds in Saxtti's circles after the former MLA joined the regional outfit earlier this week. Sources in the know say that Farrelbai has joined the Goa Forward upon a request from Taleigao strongman Babush Monserrate in a bid to strengthen the regional outfit. It is learnt that Farrelbai could not say no to Babush as he was instrumental in making her the chairperson of Education department and also the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan director during his tenure as Education Minister. Vijai rakes up jobs issue
What message did Goa Forward supremo and TCP Minister Vijaibab Sardesai mean when he said that he had supported Manoharbhai Parrikar for the CM's post after an assurance that majority of the jobs in the South Goa district hospital would come to the people of Fatorda. Many would say that Vijaibab was only trying to remind Manoharbhai to honour the commitment as the district hospital is due for commissioning around August 2018. Sources, however, say that Vijaibab's stand is a clear message to the Health Minister that it was he who had brought Manoharbhai back to Goa as Chief Minister before the Valpoi MLA quit the Congress to join the BJP. Will Manoharbhai honour the so called understanding between him and Vijaibab and how would the CM manage the Health Minister as the latter may see red over handing over jobs from his department to the TCP Minister. Wait and watch.
TCP minister, Puttaraju in a tangle
Was TCP Minister Vijaibab Sardesai in Goa or had he gone out of station on Monday, resulting in the postponement of the first meeting of the newly-constituted TCP Board meeting? If sources are to be believed, Vijaibab was very much holed up in Goa and right on the Davondem bandh on Monday, the day of the TCP Board meeting. That brings the core question as to what prompted the TCP Minister to postpone the Board meeting citing his non-availability. Well, sources said that Vijaibab was clear from day one that he would not preside the Board meeting with Chief Town Planner Puttaraju around. And, he had no option than to skip the meeting since the process to appoint two more Chief Town Planners was yet to come into effect. How's that?
BJP gears up to make inroads in Margao
Will the Margao BJP leadership finally bury their differences and put up a united face to take on Diggu in his fiefdom, Margao? As the city BJP unit tried to put up a unity façade at a media briefing, a scribe from the vernacular print media offered a suggestion or two to the local party leaders in a bid to end Diggu's raj in Margao. A known Diggu baiter, the senior scribe suggested to the BJP local brass that the party should play second fiddle and instead rally behind an Independent candidate backed by all political parties if they harbour hopes of stopping Diggu's free run in the commercial capital. Any takers for the scribe's suggestion? Only time will tell even as party leaders are expected to descend in Margao during the weekend to strengthen the party at the booth level.
Damu studying Saxttikars' psyche
BJP MLA Damubab Naik is not doing any thesis or Phd in politics for the moment. He, however, is one politician who has been reportedly trying to figure out the psyche of Saxttikars, who had in the past booted out politicians from the minority community for supporting the saffron brigade in the Legislative Assembly. The fate of Manoharbhai's trusted lieutenants, Avertanbab, Benjaminbab and Caitubab, was sealed in the 2017 Assembly election. Flamboyant Mickkybab too had met a similar fate in this year's election and not to mention Filipe Neribab and others, who were voted out by the Saxtti's electorate for flirting with the BJP in the past. So, what exactly is Damubab trying to find out from the statistics. And, has he reached any conclusion from his study so far? And, will the study have an impact in Fatorda in the next election. Wait and watch.
