What exactly did Sudinbab Dhavalikar actually meant when he remarked that if Reginaldbab Lourenco can get his work done despite being in the opposition, TCP Minister Vijaibab Sardesai should take up his grievances with the government headed by Chief Minister Manoharbhai Parrikar? The PWD minister made the remark when scribes drew his attention that the TCP minister has taken up cudgels for the people demanding the western bypass on stilts. Did Sudinbab mean to say that Vijaibab should emulate Reginaldbab and get his work done when he is part and parcel of the government or was he conveying a message that the TCP minister should come to the government with his grievances on the western bypass instead of going to the media. Wait and watch as Vijaibab has taken up the bypass issue directly with Chief Minister Manoharbab Parrikar.
Vijai steering Goa Forward
He returned from Dubai after reportedly opening a party's contact office in the Gulf country and straight away headed to Santa Cruz to open Goa Forward party office in the constituency which was earlier represented by the Taleigao strongman. His opponents may argue that Goa Forward supremo Vijaibab appears in a hurry to expand the party base in the State. In the past, he got the panchayat members from Shiroda constituency to embrace the regional outfit, much to the chagrin of the saffron brigade. But, the moot question that remains unanswered is - when will the Goa Forward supremo herald his entry into the remaining seven Assembly constituencies in Saxttidom, presently represented by the Congress and the NCP. Or has the TCP minister something up his sleeves which will be unveiled at the right time. Only time will tell.
On b'day, Mickky plans a comeback
It was a week when flamboyant Mickkybab celebrated his birthday at his home village Betalbatim in a low key manner. Unlike the past, Mickkybab did not throw a gala bash, but celebrated his birthday with his supporters from both Benaulim and Nuvem constituencies at his residence. Though political bigwigs were conspicuous by their absence this time round, Mickkybab took the opportunity to convey a message to his supporters that he has still not called a day in politics.
In fact, the former minister is believed to have told his supporters that he plans to return back to his
erstwhile Benaulim constituency that had thrice elected him to the Goa Legislative Assembly before he shifted to Nuvem. And, the flamboyant former MLA makes no
bones of the fact that wife Violabai may test the political waters in Nuvem in the next Assembly election. Any questions?
Happy b'day Manoharbhai - love from Damu
Chief Minister Manoharbhai Parrikar celebrated his 62nd birthday on Wednesday and Fatorda did not lag behind in joining in the celebrations. In fact, the saffron brigade led by former two-time BJP MLA Damubab Naik made arrangements to celebrate the birthday in a novel way befitting the Chief Minister. If the Fatorda BJP rank and file celebrates former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's birthday by visiting the elderly at the age-old home opposite Hospicio, this time Team Damubab descended at the orphanage at Pajifond as part of CM's birthday celebrations. Keeping in mind the good old adage that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, sources in the know said that the saffron brigade carried crates of apples to the orphanage for distribution to the inmates. Parrikar battles against plastic
Chief Minister Manoharbhai seemed to have taken the battle against plastic waste to a new high. At a function at Benaulim a month ago, the Chief Minister refused to accept a bouquet of flowers for the simple reason that it was wrapped in plastic. Manoharbhai was in Saxttidom during the weekend again when he attended a programme hosted by the social welfare department at the Ravindra Bhavan. This time round, the host
department decided to offer basket full of fruits to the dignitaries, including Manoharbhai and Union Minister Ghelotsaab, without realising that the baskets
were wrapped in a plastic foil. Manoharbhai accepted the fruit basket, but not before directing the organisers to remove the plastic foil from all the fruit baskets
offered to the guest. The message appears loud and clear that Manoharbhai will not accept any flowers or fruits at public functions if they are wrapped in plastic.
