Schools told to name nodal officers for voter document checks

PANAJI

The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has directed heads of schools to immediately appoint nodal officers to verify documents issued by their institutions, as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

According to an official communication, GBSHSE secretary Vidhyadatta Naik has been appointed as the nodal officer to coordinate with District Election Officers for verification of documents issued by educational institutions.

School and college heads have been instructed to nominate a nodal officer to verify documents received through the Mamlatdar’s office via the Collectorate.

The documents forwarded to institutions must be verified on priority, and the required details are to be submitted through a Google Form shared by the Directorate.

The circular further states that certificates must be verified and reverted on the same day by the head of the institution, as the matter relates to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The Board has asked schools to treat this as a top priority. The Election office has issued notices to over two lakh unmapped voters to prove their identity. Academic certificates such as matriculation and other education certificates are among the 12 documents accepted as proof of identity.
